Online Poker Cheating

Immediately following the initial Internet-poker site going virtual, people began to wonder if there may be a method to beat the game by cheating. It was not long for players to understand this in detail. As they play online poker, which might be talking on the phone to another player at the same table and no one else, would be the wiser. This idea of functioning with one more player was not novel to the world of poker. At brick-and-mortar poker establishment, players constantly have been teaming up for as long as there has been betting. Two players go to a casino and are seated at the same poker table. They have a prearranged system of signals to converse with every other about their hands. The conjecture is that, jointly, they can influence the gambling and, finally, win a lot of money. This form of unethical behavior is called collusion.

In practice, making collusion gainful is a chancy proposal. It is far harder to carry out correctly than the majority people visualize. Nonetheless, done capably over a period of time, two poker players in collusion can get a benefit over the rest of the table. For that reason, casinos and card rooms contain policies in place to watch for collusion. Should they spot confirmation of two players functioning jointly in this way, they will immediately ban those players from their organization.

Online poker is a different story all together, and you can see why. With poker, there is no objective poker table where players actually see all everybody else with their own eyes. While you play poker online, you might be doing something else. Players can post likelihood charts after each card on their computers, sit at their computers nude, loudly curse and swear and send tells like crazy. Everything is okay, as players cannot observe what other players are doing. There are actions that no player will dream of doing while seated at a game in person, but those actions can be easily done when playing poker online.

Integrated in this list of probable behavior is discussion to other players. At an in-person game, it is not likely to take on a secret discussion by one of the extra players at the table. You cannot talk about your hand and plan joint strategy to beat your opponent as you are playing in the game. Obviously, if you try to do this, other players will recognize what you are doing. But that is not the case with an online game. Online poker seems ideal for such strategy of collusion.

If you are one of the online poker players who abruptly get the brilliant idea to conspire with a friend as you play, I suggest you don’t. If you continue in putting your idea to the test, go ahead, but you will discover your thoughts of poker riches dashed upon the rocks of realism.  True, there are many ways to cheat at online poker. Many players do so every day. But collusion with a friend is not one of those ways.
